Overview
Aurie is a bookmark organizer with optional AI-powered features. This policy describes what data is processed by the web app, browser extension, and AI features, and how that data is used, stored, and shared.
Data We Process
Core App Data
- Account data (email and authentication identifiers) when you sign in.
- Bookmark content you explicitly save (title, URL, description, tags, favicon, thumbnail).
- Workspace structure (dashboards, spaces, and sections you create).
- Workspace settings (theme, layout, custom tiles, quick links, typography scale, accent color).
- Extension settings required for feature functionality.
AI Feature Data (Opt-In Only)
The following data is only collected when you explicitly enable the AI organizer features. All AI features are disabled by default.
- Browser activity metadata: domain, URL, page title, timestamp, and event type (e.g. tab switches and page loads) for enterprise and productivity websites only.
- Page content snippets: when deep content ingestion is enabled, Aurie captures page headings, text excerpts (up to 5,000 characters, redacted for sensitive patterns), and ticket/issue keys from enterprise pages you visit. Personal, social media, and entertainment sites are excluded.
- AI-generated content: suggestions, bookmark descriptions, custom tile assignments, and organizational actions generated by the AI based on your activity.
How Data Is Used
- To provide core functionality such as saving and syncing bookmarks across devices.
- To render previews, thumbnails, and optional screenshots for saved bookmarks.
- To persist and sync your personal preferences across your devices.
- When AI features are enabled, to analyze browsing patterns and page content in order to generate organization suggestions (e.g. creating dashboards, sections, adding bookmarks, tagging, and renaming).
- When AI Autopilot is enabled, to autonomously apply organization suggestions without requiring manual approval. Autopilot may create, rename, or remove dashboards, sections, bookmarks, and quick links based on your browsing activity.
- To maintain service reliability and security.
Third-Party Data Processing
Aurie does not sell personal data. Data is processed through the following categories of service providers:
- Infrastructure: authentication, database (Supabase/PostgreSQL), and storage providers. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- AI processing (Anthropic): when AI features are enabled, browsing activity metadata, page content snippets, and your workspace structure are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate organization suggestions. Anthropic processes this data under their privacy policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models.
- Metadata fetching: when bookmarks are saved, Aurie may fetch Open Graph metadata (title, description, preview image) from the bookmarked URL to enhance the display.
AI Autopilot Disclosure
When Autopilot mode is enabled, AurieAI takes autonomous actions on your workspace based on your browsing patterns. These actions include:
- Creating new dashboards and sections to organize detected workflows.
- Adding bookmarks from your browsing activity to relevant sections.
- Generating contextual descriptions for bookmarks using page content.
- Assigning custom tiles to bookmarks that lack thumbnails.
- Tagging bookmarks with project names, tool categories, or ticket references.
- Renaming dashboards or sections to better reflect their content.
- Removing bookmarks that appear stale or no longer relevant.
- Adding or removing quick links based on visit frequency.
Autopilot is opt-in and disabled by default. You can disable it at any time from your AI settings. All actions taken by Autopilot are visible in the AI suggestions panel and can be reviewed.
Data Retention
- Core data: bookmarks, settings, and workspace structure are retained for the lifetime of your account. You can delete individual items or your entire account at any time.
- AI activity data: browser activity events and page content chunks are automatically deleted after a configurable retention period (default: 14 days, configurable from 1 to 180 days). Cleanup runs automatically during normal operation.
- AI suggestions: generated suggestions are stored until reviewed or until you clear your AI memory from the AI settings page.
AI Privacy Controls
You have granular control over every aspect of AI data processing:
- AI Organizer toggle: master switch to enable or disable all AI features. Disabled by default.
- Passive Capture toggle: controls whether the extension captures browsing activity. Can be disabled independently.
- Deep Content Ingestion toggle: controls whether page content (headings and text excerpts) is captured in addition to basic metadata.
- Autopilot toggle: controls whether suggestions are automatically applied or require manual approval.
- Retention period: configurable duration for how long AI activity data is kept before automatic deletion.
- Clear AI Memory: instantly delete all stored activity events, content chunks, and suggestions from the AI settings page.
Browser Extension Data
If you use the Aurie browser extension, the extension only accesses tab data (URL, title, and favicon) when you choose to import tabs. The extension stores your Aurie app URL in local browser storage to connect to your account.
The extension does not run remote code, does not collect analytics, and does not share tab data with third parties. Data is sent only to your Aurie app when you initiate an import.
Encryption and Security
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (database-level encryption via Supabase). Aurie uses a consent-based privacy model with opt-in AI settings, passive capture controls, configurable data retention, and user-controlled deletion.
Your Controls
- You can edit or delete bookmarks, dashboards, sections, and settings at any time.
- You can export all your data from the Profile page.
- You can disable any or all AI features independently from your AI settings.
- You can clear your AI memory (activity events, content, and suggestions) instantly.
- You can uninstall the extension to stop all extension-side data capture.
- You can request full account deletion from within Aurie, which removes all stored data.
